Untitled Poem II

If I were picking out a man
The way one picks out a toothbrush
He would be tall and lanky
Reach all the right corners
Nooks and crannies
Of my heart

He would not flinch
At bad breath
Stubborn plaque
Or the smell of chocolate
Mixed with garlic

I could put him away neatly
When I am finished
Part of every day
Any day
But not quite
A part
Of my heart
